For the third time in the past four years, Renner and Company Senior Manager Mary Ann Dougherty has been named a “Top Financial Advisor” by Washingtonian Magazine. Dougherty, who also was named to the list in 2019 and 2021, will be included in the March issue of Washingtonian.

The list of top financial advisors includes financial planners, tax accountants, insurance specialists and other financial professionals, as chosen by their peers. To arrive at the names of the area’s 375 top financial advisors, the magazine distributed surveys to hundreds of people who work in the local industry and asked them whom they would trust with their own money. They also consulted industry experts and publications, and the names on the list are those who received the strongest recommendations.

Ms. Dougherty joined Renner and Company in October 2020. Born and raised in Northern Virginia, she is a licensed CPA who works with individuals and their privately owned businesses as well doing estate planning and business succession planning. Her consulting services include: choice of business entity, multistate tax issues, establishment of retirement plans and tax authority representation.

Ms. Dougherty does C corporate, S corporate, partnership, limited liability, individual and fiduciary income tax returns.

Ms. Dougherty graduated from Virginia Tech with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, and she earned a master’s degree in taxation at American University.
