Mr. Young became the Firm’s Managing Shareholder in October 2022. He joined the firm in 2009 after several years of public accounting experience with both national and regional firms in New York state. Passionate about serving both the nonprofit community and the private sector, his experience includes audits of trade associations, public charities, government contractors, professional service corporations, construction companies, private foundations, labor unions and schools. His extensive experience also includes auditing federal award programs and grants in accordance with the Uniform Guidance and auditing employee benefit plans. Currently, Mr. Young oversees the firm’s attest practice, which includes many of the firm’s audit and review engagements, including federal award recipients, as well as many of the firm’s Form 990 returns.
Mr. Young also serves as the shareholder in charge of the firm’s quality control system, including its external peer review and internal inspection processes.
He has authored articles for the firm’s nonprofit e-newsletter and has prepared a variety of in-house training programs. He has been a popular speaker at industry conferences.
Mr. Young holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Summa Cum Laude, from Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, New York, and a Master of Business Administration degree with Distinction from Liberty University.
He is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in the District of Columbia, Virginia and New York, and maintains a Chartered Global Management Accountant license. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Greater Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants.
He has also proudly served as both the Chairman of the Board and Chairman of the Finance Committee for Liberty’s Promise, an Alexandria-based nonprofit organization that supports low-income immigrant youth by providing them with means to become actively involved in civic life, pursue higher education and embark upon meaningful careers.
